History of our Gig - Part 2
The gig ”Cwch John Kerr” provides traditional gig rowing and sailing at a nominal cost for all who would like to take part. It is a substantial and beautiful vessel, a 38 ft replica longboat with a crew of 13, comprising 10 oarsmen, a coxswain, a bowman, and an ‘admiral’.
Under sail she sets two dipping lugs and a balanced lug mizzen, and has a surprising turn of speed, yet her simplicity sets her apart from modern yachts and dinghies and calls for no prior sailing or rowing experience.
